As the school summer term ends and people’s thoughts switch to holidays and warm summer days, the team at Walesby Forest is already planning for a busy 2025. Next year will see the introduction of a new camping calendar, events and accommodation.
Our heritage is in Scouting, with the site still owned by the City of Nottingham District Scouts, and as such we have been busy thinking of new events we can host to entice the scouting family onto site.
We will still be holding our usual winter events, Winter Camp and Wake Up Walesby, as well as the City of Nottingham District Camp, but we’re excited to be launching three new events in 2025.
June 2025
The Walesby Womble in June 2025 will be a weekend for Cubs, Brownies, Beavers and Rainbows.
There will be a wide range of activities on offer – some created in-house and others being brought to site especially for this event. This is a regional event and we hope to welcome people from Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. It should be a lot of fun, so be sure to pop the dates in your diary early.
July 2025
We have traditionally held a Scouting and Guiding summer camp in July, but our new Summer Scorcher!, from 25th to 31st July 2025, will see this week reinvented. The plan is to host activities and challenges throughout the week, making it a lot of fun for all that visit and camp. Fingers crossed the weather is as good as the title.
September 2025
In the autumn, from 12th to 14th September 2025, we will be hosting our Ponchos and Glowsticks event exclusively for Guides and Rangers. Whilst our heritage is deeply rooted in Scouting, we have always worked closely with Girlguiding. This event will be a lot of fun for all that come with a range of in-house and external activities brought to site.
We are working directly with the Nottinghamshire Scouts and Guides across all three new events, so look out for more information from both your own group and Walesby Forest.
2025 Camping Map & Calendar
Finally, our new camping map and calendar is being updated as we speak. We understand that more and more people are searching for electric pitches, so we have taken the decision to add another 24. We have also included the May Day bank holiday in the calendar, alongside the whole of August 2025 up to and including the bank-holiday – which will be available for family camping. The new camping map and calendar will be released in September of this year.
2025 promises to be an exciting year and the team at Walesby Forest is working hard to make sure it is fantastic for every visitor that walks through our doors.
